Who We Are?

Established in 1997, Climax Electronics is a small South African business that offers electronic product design and consultancy services for companies and individuals (students/makers) that don’t necessarily have the resources or necessary skills to do so.

Over the past 2 decades, the company has designed and developed electronic products and solutions in the industrial, commercial, consumer sectors for various clients.  Nearly all products developed have had some form of communications (Wired and/or Wireless) technology and interfacing to other technologies (e.g. sensors and actuators, 3rd party software) with connectivity to the Internet, a company’s Intranet or SCADA (PLC) based networks for data aggregation, analysis and visualisation.

In today’s technology speak, one could summerise the above and say that the company designs, develops, integrates “IoT Devices for IoT based Solutions”; all locally designed, manufactured, assembled by supporting the local Electronics Industry. See the projects section for a few past projects

In-order to keep up with technology, the company invests in research and development into new electronic technologies by coming up with Proof of Concept (POC) innovative ideas to demonstrate the technology.  Having this approach leads to faster product/prototype development or a Proof of Concept idea for potential clients.  Typical areas of focus are networking/communications of intelligent embedded devices (IoT nodes) to the edge/cloud for energy management and control/monitoring solutions.

In recent years, to complement the in-house research and development activities, component stock, test equipment; the company has invested in 3D printing technology and CNC technology to assist in prototype product aesthetics (enclosures) and prototype printed circuit boards (PCB) manufacture.
